ThaiSociety ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at thaisociety.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the personal information of visitors and subscribers ("you" or "users") when you access or use the Site. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Newsletter subscriber information is retained by Mailchimp until you unsubscribe or request deletion, at which point it is removed in accordance with Mailchimp’s data deletion procedures. Contact form enquiry data is retained for up to twelve months to allow for follow-up correspondence, after which it is deleted. Automatically collected analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for a period of fourteen months before being anonymised or deleted, in accordance with the data retention settings configured in our analytics property. Server access logs maintained by our hosting provider are retained in accordance with Hostinger’s standard data retention practices.

If you are accessing the Site from outside Thailand, your information may be transferred to and processed in Thailand or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. Newsletter subscriber data is processed by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), whose servers are located in the United States. Website analytics data is processed by Google Analytics (Google LLC), whose servers are located in the United States. Contact form submissions are processed on the Site’s own hosting server and are not transferred to a third-party processor. Where personal data is transferred to a country that may not provide the same level of data protection as Thailand, we take appropriate safeguards to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws, including obtaining your explicit consent where required, relying on adequacy determinations, or implementing standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission, secure server infrastructure, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to affect your rights and freedoms, we will notify the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) within seventy-two hours and, where required by applicable law, inform affected data subjects without undue delay.
The Site is not directed at minors. Under the Thailand Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), a minor is any individual under the age of twenty. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors without the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
